do any other aromantic people feel weirdly isolated in, like…..every space they’re in that isn’t specifically for aromantic people?

Like even in “inclusive queer spaces”, you’ll still have to hear those jokes about how like “are two queer people really friends if they’re not pining for each other” and “queer culture is being in love with your best friend” and “every queer person has fallen in love with their best friend at least once” so you just have to awkwardly laugh along because you know that if you mention you’re aromanticism, you’d just be opening yourself up to scrutiny and hate.

idk. it’s just a strange experience.

yeah i think this is why i feel so strongly aro and less lgbt

I think alloaros can actually be really similar to non-sam aros at times

like, I don’t label my sexual attraction bc I don’t want to give anyone a reason / excuse to call me anything but aro. I’m not bi or gay or anything else. I am aro. if you need further determiner, then I am alloaro.

in a similar way, some people identify as non-sam bc they don’t want to give others a chance to slight their aro identity for any other allosexual or asexual label. they are aro.

I think that’s part of why I feel a lot of solidarity with non-sam aros. lots of us are simply trying to protect our aro label.

**note: I acknowledge that some alloaros do label their sexual attraction more specifically, and some non-sam aros have sub-labels that they use personally. this post just focuses on a different subset of arospecs.

cis, heteroromantic aces and cis, heterosexual aros are still part of the queer community because being asexual and aromantic are queer identities. include them in your pride
